Brad Waldron It’s hard to talk about 2022 without mentioning 2021. Terrible in many ways, but for us in the bike industry, there was a silver lining. We saw the demand for bicycles and helmets jump as many people found themselves at home and looking to change their lifestyles. Some found more time because they did not have to commute several hours a day, some sought to escape to keep sane, while others just appreciated what they had. It does not matter why or even how, we were just excited to see more people enjoying the magic of the bicycle. Like many companies, we had essential employees coming into work, while others were able to work from home. I, personally, went from flying 100K Miles in 2019 to logging not a single mile in 2020/2021. We had to find new ways of doing what needed to get done. Zoom? A mixed blessing, for sure. Through all of the challenges, I am happy to say that we have a tighter, stronger Kali Krew and I love being part of what we have right now. What have we been doing? We have been doing what we’ve always done: materials research, testing, product development, driving technology down market, and looking for ways to bring value at every price point. For 2022 we’ve added LDL to two models, both coming to market at under 100 USD. We’ve developed a new blend of EPS foam with a collaboration between two major suppliers. We’ve added three new helmet models, including the Grit, our new gravel/road offering. We’ve brought new gloves, knee and shin protection with expanded colors and models. And as always we are striving for the best customer service by treating our customers just like we would want to be treated. In 2022, we will have an additional five models on the development board. Some will focus on value, while our other focus is on new and emerging technologies. I am personally looking to be able to spend more time in the labs we use for testing.
