REDUCING ANGULAR ACCELERATION Angular acceleration force is proven as the primary cause of concussion. 6D’s Omni-Directional Suspension ‘uncouples’ the helmet from the head form by means of its suspended dual-liner technology. The suspended liners shear omni-directionally when subjected to oblique impacts thereby reducing the transfer of angular acceleration force to the head and brain during an accident. MULTI-IMPACT OUTER EPP (Expanded Polypropelyene) LINER Strategically positioned multi-impact EPP outer liner scientifically engineered with ‘Damping Towers’ to provide a progressive spring rate to the ODS system during impacts. The multi-impact property of EPP is the key element that allows the rebuilding* of the ATR-2 after a moderate to severe impact event. REPLACEABLE INNER EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) LINER The inner EPS liner is the first layer of defense. It is effectively a helmet within a helmet having its own in-molded PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) shell. This shell serves many functions, providing hoop strength and a low-friction surface that aids in reducing angular acceleration forces. LOW-FRICTION DISKS Multiple smooth disks top the damping towers to reduce friction under loading thereby reducing angular acceleration. ELASTOMERIC ISOLATION DAMPERS An array of Isolation Dampers connect the ODS carrier to the outer EPP liner and work in unison to mitigate low-threshold impact energy and manage rotational force. OPTIMIZED SHELL DESIGN The 6D concept of ‘Optimized Shell Design’ does not define one element, but a matrix of materials engineered to work in concert to provide greater protection and energy mitigation.
